Classic leveling and how I would try to fix it.

Okay, I leveled a ton of new characters as of last expansion and the leveling experience as far as I know hasn't really changed. So I feel like I have a good idea on how to level some alts and what the new leveling experience is. I have two main goals here.1.To encourage people to get into the story and mechanics and2. To encourage alts and to encourage people to level those alts to max.So here's what needs to happen. There needs to be a leveling tracts specifically for new players. So I as the game exists now it pops you into bfa and then it drops you into the latest few expansions and I think that's a terrible way to do it because you get no introduction to characters and you miss several expansions of information. You miss out on a ton of lore and characters and interesting areas and you really have no incentive beyond cosmetics to go back and farm old content. What I think blizz should do is what I call the fly over model. Hears how it would go:1-10 would remain the same. I think the little island you level on is fine and does a good job showing you the basics of wow. I wouldn't really even change much. This is where things would change.Since you end that you end up in your respective capital, all the world leaders are having a meeting because they have a meeting every so often to catch up on what happening in the other kingdoms. It's here you will be introduced to the king or warchief of the faction, they explain to you what the factions are about and point you in the direction of your race leader, who explains their history and what they fight for. You then get attacked by a band of mercenaries for the other faction and then you have to fight them off and you learn that world of warcraft is a harsh war filled world. You end up saving the day and the leaders decide to make you a general in their armies. That only levels you up like a level or two so you should be at about lvl 12.Now from there you get told that the world needs saving and you're the best person for the job.Now you meet chromie who tells you if you like a specific expansion you can choose to specifically level there. ThenYou first get sent to the outland they explain what's going on in outland and you get a short quest that introduces you to some of the main players of that expansion they literally fly you over the the separate zones and explain the problems there and you do some introductry questsThen after those introductory quests you should be about lvl 18, they tell you you can come back to help but they need you else where. You get sent back to the king who tells you about how you're needed in Northrend and you get sent there you do some introductry fly over explanation, you do some introductry quests for about 5 lvls and then you get sent off to Eastern kingdom's and kalimdor and the cycle repeats for every expansion.Once you hit lvl 30 the game will tell you about heirlooms( which I'll get into on my second point)Now once you get warlords of dreanor you play enough of the expansion to get your base there set up, but that's the only major difference it stays with the character introduction, lore explanation fly over, and Introductory quests. legion will get you set up with your weapon and class hall with the cycle repeating. once you get to bfa you get the intro that you get for there and you should be about lvl 40-45ish at this point. It will set you up with your ship. Now from here it will do the character introduction quests, fly over, questing again. This is where things slow down and you start living more normally. Shadowlands will do the same getting you set up with your covenant and you lvl from 50-60 here.Once you get lvled enough that you can go dragon flight then you lvl as normal Heirlooms need to be cheaper to upgrade or they just need to be set to whatever is the previous lvl cap was.Now the leveling tract is there to get new people interested in the lore and the expansion features. Heirlooms are there to make leveling less of a chore and are there for the more experienced players. Who don't want to use the leveling tract and want to spam dungeons or level quickly through a specific expansion. As it is it takes a ton of work or gold(or both) to level your heirlooms and I feel like heirlooms should feel like a reward for leveling a character. Now if I was gonna do it I would just set heirlooms to what ever was the previous cap of the expansion and upgrade them with each new expansion, but if they want to keep it the old way, I think heirlooms need to be much cheaper to upgrade because it costs millions in gold to upgrade them to their max level. It just makes the whole system alt unfriendly and i feel like if making alts were easier we would see more people experiment with playing tanks or healers or dps, which is a win for everyone.Reputation changesThere's a ton of reputations in the game and the thought of grinding those reputations again kinda fills me with dread especially if they got something race or class specific I want, but can't get on my main. Now the easiest answer to this is to make reputations account bound. If I got the reputation to max on main then I got it everywhere else. Though if that doesn't work I have another idea. What I feel would be the best thing is to bring back rep tabards, but only for older reputations, like if the rep in question is two expansions old or if it's part of a time walking at this point then you should be able to get reputations through the tabards. It's not hurting anything by making that content a little bit easier to passively grind.A leveling themed holiday. Now the game already kinda has this, but it's sporadic. Now I think you could probably bolt this onto an existing holiday like midsummer fest, Darkmoon, or pilgrims bounty. Though you could also make it it's own holiday. The point of this holiday would be to help you level up your professions, gain rep, and gain levels. Some of the holidays kinda already do this to an extent, but a specific holiday for it would be nice as well. Though this holiday would be for more than just cooking and it would for reputations on top of just leveling. I think something like a crafting bazaar that only happens every few months or once a month/week would be awesome.(I know dark moon does this to an extent but the leveling/ rep buff needs to persist through death and the profession stuff are dailys that only level your professions so much. What I want is something more in depth) via /r/wow https://ift.tt/G01x57d
