Classic Coming back?

I'm guessing I'm not the first to post something like this, but I scrolled a bit and didn't see any. I have played WoW for most of its history, except for the past two expacs. I played BFA for a few months, then picked it up again toward the end and played the current one for about a month. Now, thinking of coming back and trying the next....How hard is it to jump in now and get some gear pvp? I mostly like to run bgs and a few dungeons, etc. Not big on dailies.
