Classic Ways to tone down WoW?

Hi everyone,this is a bit of an odd one I guess, I love playing WoW and I'd love to play it with my boyfriend. Sadly he gets easily overwhelmed and the graphic style of WoW is apparently particularly bad for him. Does anyone have any idea how to "tone down" the game?He's ok playing FPS and similar games that have less going on on screen (Destiny 2 to a limited degree, Doom, Minecraft).
