Classic Metzen didnt make great stories. But I never felt like he was indirectly insulting me.

I was thinking about what sets apart Metzen and Danueser and I think i finally got it. Metzen's lore and stories were very straight forward "Good vs Evil" nothing to write home about but what made them so memorable was the characters and how he never tried to blow smoke up his own ass. As far as I know, he never tried to convince us how "x is actually morally grey" or how "y is so smart and outsmarted to for the 500th time". No, his characters are just a joy to watch and you want to see what they do next. For example Arthas as the Lich king. He was a villain through and through but god damn was he badass. You WANTED to see him more to see what he would say or do. Or even Garrosh, Kil'Jaeden, ect. His stories never tried to be deep. He knew his limits and stuck with what he knew.Danuesers characters and stories are so pretentious to the point where whenever one of the characters appears on screen everyone collectively rolls their eyes and wishes they would just shut the hell up. People wanted to kill Arthas because he was a badass force to be reckoned with and we wanted to go toe to toe with him to face off against a legendary villain. People want to kill Sylvanas and the Jailer because theyre utterly insufferable and are tired of having the writers and characters indirectly insult them by talking about how "deceptively cunning" and how they tricked us for the millionth time in the dumbest way imaginable. via /r/wow https://ift.tt/3syCAXk
