Classic What’s the move here?

I haven’t played since panda...I got classic and have been enjoying it and now I’m getting back into retail. However the next expansion is coming soon so if I wait and buy that will I have access to everything? Or do you have to buy every expansion? And I’m kinda jealous of the new races tbh.
